BU LifeSci Among Turkish Centers Pre-Qualified for EU's H2020 Teaming Call
Boğaziçi University Center for Life Sciences and Technologies is among 20 research centers qualified by TUBITAK and the Ministry of Development in the first stage of the Teaming Call of Horizon 2020, the European Union Framework Programme for Research and Innovation.
BU LifeSci’s project titled TACLiST (Teaming to Advance the Center for Life Sciences and Technologies) is planned to be submitted to the EU’s H2020 Teaming Call which will close in November.
H2020 is the biggest EU research and innovation programme ever with nearly €80 billion of funding available over 7 years (2014 to 2020). “Spreading Excellence and Widening Participation – WIDESPREAD,” a section of H2020, aims to maximise investment in research and innovation to enable the European Research Area to function in a more streamlined and homogeneous way, allowing the individual strengths of each state to be optimised. The “Teaming” action of WIDESPREAD, is a new feature that will provide new collaboration and development opportunities by teaming advanced research institutions with the ones in low R&I countries for the creation or upgrading of existing centers of excellence.
First designed in 1984 to rationalise research funding under a single framework, the EU’s framework programmes have expanded in scope and scale to coordinate and support Europe’s science and technology policies and applications.
