BU LifeSci Applied to the European Union's Horizon 2020 Teaming Call with its TACLiST Project
Boğaziçi University Center for Life Sciences and Technologies has submitted a project titled TACLiST - Teaming to Advance the Center for Life Sciences and Technologies to the Teaming Call of Horizon 2020, the European Union Framework Programme for Research and Innovation. H2020 is the biggest EU research and innovation programme ever with nearly €80 billion of funding available between 2014 and 2020. Spreading Excellence and Widening Participation (WIDESPREAD), a section of H2020, aims to maximise investment in research and innovation to enable the European Research Area to function in a more streamlined and homogeneous way, allowing the individual strengths of each state to be optimised. The Teaming action of WIDESPREAD is a new feature that will provide new collaboration and development opportunities by teaming advanced research institutions with the ones in low R&I countries for the creation or upgrading of existing centers of excellence.
BU LifeSci was among 20 research centers qualified by TUBITAK and the Turkish Ministry of Development in the first stage of the call earlier this year. LifeSci later passed the second stage and became one of the seven national centers eligible to apply for this Call. Research centers are able to submit proposals to WIDESPREAD Teaming calls by forming consortia with EU-based centers of excellence. Results of this call are expected to be announced in about 5 months.
