Hundreds ran for life and hope in Turkey's first Relay For Life event !
'Relay For Life', a fundraising event which brings together communities in 24 countries to honor cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease, was co-organized in Turkey for the first time by Boğaziçi University and Pembe Hanım, an Istanbul-based NGO which supports cancer patients and families. Boğaziçi University Center for Life Sciences and Technologies hosted the event at the university's Uçaksavar stadium on October 10-11, 2015. Hundreds of cancer survivors, their families and friends as well as doctors and volunteers took part in the 24-hour event, with teams camping out on the football field, members of each team taking turns walking or running around the track, and food and activities providing entertainment. More than 4 million people around the world participate in the Relay For Life movement, which offers the unique opportunity for cancer survivors and caregivers to be recognized and supported.
