About The Seminar:

This talk will start with an introduction to biomedical engineering from a historic perspective. Its current outlook and future prospects will be addressed next.

Prof. Denktas is expected to be visiting Bogazici University Kandilli  Campus regularly for the next 18 months, since he is a key expert member of EU IPA grant’s technical assistance team. This project is expected to boost some the newly established units of the Center for Life Sciences and Technologies of Bogazici University.

A brief introduction will be given to this IPA project and what new opportunities it will bring to students and faculty members.

About the Speaker:

He is an emeritus professor in Chemistry Department and Bioengineering Division  at Hacettepe University, Graduate School of Science and Engineering and he is currently working as a full professor and Departmental Head at Başkent University, Biomedical Engineering Department. He has received many National Scientific Awards including TÜBİTAK (Turkish Scientific and Technical Research Council) Award for Encouragement in Science. Prof. Denkbaş has advised 40 MSc and 20 PhD dissertations. He has published 139 articles in SCI journals, 19 books/book chapters and has around 3000 citations and his (h) factor is 28. He has more than 170 presentations in national/international meetings. He is the board member on editorial board of “Journal of Bioactive and Compatible Polymers”, “Journal of Biomedical Nanotechnology”, “Letters in Applied Nanobioscience”. He has managed more than 20 research projects as the director which supported by Hacettepe University, TUBİTAK and Ministry of Development. Prof. Denkbaş is also a founder member of “Turkish Controlled Release Society”.
